The station and many of the crew now known as K9NS have been around a while.

In the late 1970's, K9HMB was located in Fox Lake, Illinois and hosted multi-operations under the calls W9TM, K9GL and others.  The station was active in DX, SS, 160 and VHF contests for many years before being moved to it's current location in the mid-1990's.

A number of current K9NS operators were also active from the original location in the 70's & early 80's.  They include: Jim-K9PPY, John-K9DX, Keith-W9RM (ex-WB9TIY), Paul-K9NO and Pete-K9PW.  And, of course, Frank-K9HMB !
